Introduction

In the Business Unit Technology (R&D), no two days are the same. Our activities are based all over the world and each technical challenge is different, covering the 3 main verticals of Vanderlande: Airports, Warehousing and Parcel business. In the Equipment Innovation team we explore novel concepts and future technologies to solve the next industry challenges and to discover new value to our customers.

What will you be doing?

As Innovation Manager, you are leading the BU Technology equipment innovation program in combination with a line manager responsibility for ca. 20 people: innovation engineers/leads and discipline experts. In this role you report directly to the Managing Director of the Development Centers Equipment.

Within your role, you intensively cooperate in a variety of fields within Vanderlande (Business, Engineering, Services and Supply Chain) and outside, with customers and co-development partners. You support our ambition to bring innovative solutions to the market faster, by implementing and testing new concepts internally and at our customers premises, in an agile way of working.

A good understanding of the business needs is required for this. You and the Innovation Leads are key players on the refinement of new ideas and proposals before they enter the development pipeline.

Responsibilities

• Coordination of the equipment innovation program involving idea screening, refinement and agile concept exploration of selected ideas
• Department management, reporting program status on planning, budget & scope.
• People lead; focus on coaching and continuous development of the individual members of the team and the team as a whole.
• Chair of the Equipment Innovation Board, coordinating the selection of ideas to be explored as well as the ideas to enter the development pipeline, alongside Business Units
• Manage internal stakeholders from the various Business Units and within Technology
• Connect with customers and identify the need and potential value.
• Build relationships with our partners and suppliers.
• Further build on the technology organization and contribute to the continuous improvement of the innovation process.
• Fast market introduction of new ideas (value creation) in cooperation with other technology and business teams.

What do we ask from you?

Within this dynamic tech and business environment, you feel energized by connecting and leading people to bring forth the best in them. You are result-oriented, creative, open-minded and have a pro-active approach.

• You have a master’s degree and a great affinity with technology.
• You have min 10 years of successful track record within the innovative/early-stage of product development, preferably in the areas of hardware/equipment/controls.
• You like leading and developing people, with a min 3 years of management working experience.
• You can act on strategic and operational level.
• Excellent communication skills by leading (international) teams of technical specialists.
• Experience in stakeholder management and time management.
• Passion to stay on top of technology trends, experiment with and learn new technologies such as Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, IoT, Data, Sustainability
• Agile mindset and exposure to Agile-Scrum methods are a plus

This position offers a competitive salary range of € 6100,- to € 7900,- gross per month (excluding 8% holiday allowance). Through exceeding performance expectations, you even have the possibility to grow outside this scale.
